RCA is recruiting golfers across Western Cape, Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) to visit golf clubs and resorts as anonymous guests, then report on the golf experience from the first phone call to the last handshake.
Golf clubs and resorts invest heavily in their courses. Whether a visitor returns, joins or recommends the club often depends on the moments around the round: how the booking was handled, whether the starter knew your name, how the halfway house felt, how the day ended.
RCA Group is a Cape Town consultancy that has measured the guest experience at more than 50 golf clubs and resorts. Mystery golfers are how we see the club the way a guest does. You play as an ordinary visitor, observe against a clear standard, and submit a structured report that the club uses to coach its team.
You do not need any inside knowledge. You need to enjoy golf, notice detail and write honestly.

Most guests never tell a club what went wrong. They simply do not come back. Managers see the club from the inside, and teams naturally perform at their best when they know someone is watching.
RCA's mystery golfer programme exists to close that gap. You visit as an ordinary guest and tell us what you saw and how it felt.
You are not there to catch anyone out. Your job is to describe the visit fairly and specifically, so the club can recognise what its team does well and fix what lets guests down.
RCA works with each club to set the service standards it wants to be known for.
Club teams are trained and coached to deliver those standards.
Mystery golfers check whether the standards are delivered in real life, visit by visit. This is where you come in.
Your brief lists the touchpoints to observe on your visit. At each one, you note what happened and compare it with the club's standards. These are the moments you will be paying attention to.
How quickly and warmly was your booking handled?
Were you welcomed and directed without having to ask?
Did the team know their product and set your round up well?
Did the conditions, pace and facilities match what you expected?
Was service quick, friendly and good value at the turn?
Did the day end well, with a farewell that makes you want to return?
RCA reviews every report and compares it with the club's standards. The findings show the club what is working and where to focus, and they feed into coaching and training for the team. Your observations lead to a better visit for the next golfer.
Everything you need is provided before you tee off. An RCA representative will take you through the process personally, so you always know what to look for and how to record it.
Complete the short form below with your region, golf background and availability. It takes about three minutes.
RCA selects guests whose profile fits the club's target market. If your profile fits, an RCA representative contacts you to confirm your details and take you through the programme.
You receive an assignment with the club, date, scenario and evaluation criteria. Visit as a normal guest. The club does not know you are coming.
Complete the evaluation within the agreed turnaround. RCA reviews it, so your report is judged on what you observed and not on opinion.
You are never on your own. An RCA representative will take you through the process, from your first briefing to your final report, so you have complete clarity on what is expected at every step.
Each assignment covers the whole golf experience, from booking to farewell. Your brief tells you which touchpoints apply to the club you visit.
Phone, email or online. Speed, knowledge and how welcome you feel before you arrive.
Gate, parking, bag drop and how you are greeted at the pro shop or reception.
Product knowledge, courtesy, tee-off briefing and the pace of the process.
Presentation of the tees, fairways and greens, signage, carts and facilities on the course.
Service, food and beverage quality, speed and value at the turn.
Atmosphere, cleanliness, team attitude and the standard of the meal or drinks after play.
Marshalling, communication and how the round flows from first tee to eighteenth green.
Farewell, billing accuracy and whether you would be happy to return.
The programme runs across Western Cape, Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal. Tell us where you play and how far you are willing to travel, and we assign clubs accordingly. The clubs you visit are only revealed when you receive an assignment.
From the Cape Peninsula to the Winelands and the Garden Route.
Established parkland clubs and modern estates across Johannesburg and Pretoria.
Coastal links and inland estates from Durban to the Midlands.
Mystery golfing is a little different from a regular round. Clubs use what you report to improve, so we look for people who enjoy the detail and care about getting it right. Accuracy, honesty and discretion matter more than your handicap, and we hope this page helps you decide whether it feels like a good fit.
If any of these sound familiar, that is perfectly fine, and thank you for taking the time to read this far. If the description on this page sounds like you, we would love to hear from you.
RCA covers your green fees and all relevant on-site expenses for every evaluation. Under RCA's agreements with the clubs, costs are paid in two parts, so you are never left out of pocket.
Fixed costs, such as your green fees, are paid to you on the day of the evaluation.
Variable spend, such as food and beverage, is covered up to a spending cap that is agreed with you before your visit.
It is paid once you submit your evaluation together with the relevant slips.
We agree your spending cap with you, so you know exactly what is covered.
Your fixed costs, such as green fees, are paid to you on the day of the evaluation.
Submit your evaluation with your slips, and your variable spend is paid.
Please keep your slips. They are needed to pay your variable spend, so keep every slip from the day and attach them to your evaluation.
Not necessarily. We match guests to the profile each club wants to understand, which can include visitors, members and newer golfers. Tell us your playing background on the form and we will advise.
Clubs are revealed when you receive an assignment. If you know the club well or have a connection to it, tell us so we can avoid a conflict of interest.
Most guests complete the evaluation shortly after their round while details are fresh. Your assignment confirms the turnaround and the format.
